Bartok's symphonic poem Kossuth stands in the shadow of his later works and is hardly ever performed. Nevertheless, it in every way merits description as a gem. Bartok, wrote this piece when he was a mere 20 years of age. The piece does not celebrate his life but rather that of the Hungarian freedom fighter Kossuth.
